Additional Information

Carlos Núñez comes from Galicia, the Celtic region in North West Spain. He is considered one of the preeminent artists on the World/Celtic Music scene, with the depth of a classical music virtuoso and the charisma of a rock star. Carlos has expanded the borders of Celtic music to include Flamenco, Fado, Cuban, Mexican, Brazilian and Classical music, Movie Soundtracks, Contemporary Dance… As he describes it, he plays Celtic music with Latin passion.

SONY MUSIC (formerly BMG) has released his ten albums, selling 1 million copies since his debut in 1996, amassing several Platinum and Gold CDs and DVDs, as well as two Latin Grammy nominations. The album Santiago, for which he became honorary member of The Chieftains, was awarded a Grammy in 1997. Carlos Núñez embarks on his comeback to the US, having performed hundreds of shows in the early 90s, with The Chieftains, or with his own band. Since his last US release, 10 years ago, he has concentrated on Europe, Latin America and Japan, where his legions of fans have enjoyed an average of 100 shows per year.

Fall 2012 marked the release of Discover, his a greatest-hits, double CD collection. It includes collaborations with The Chieftains, Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, and many more. Its popularity is the catalyst for Carlos’s long-awaited return to North America. Major touring ensued in Fall 2012 and again in summer 2013 with new line-up, featuring his brother Xurxo on percussion, Pancho Alvarez on Brazilian viola, and fiddler/step-dancer Jon Pilatzke, whom he met while with The Chieftains.

Regular touring continues in support of his latest album, Inter-Celtic (2014), showcasing music and artists, including The Chieftains and Altan from Ireland and Alan Stivell from Brittany, from the different Celtic countries and musical contributions from Scottish pipers, and Ry Cooder.
