PAUL LINDEMEYER'S RHYTHM DE LUXE ORCHESTRA
featuring STEVE ROSS & THE RHTYHMOPOLITANS

PAUL LINDEMEYER
saxophonist, clarinetist, and vocalist, has devoted much of his young life to playing and preserving the music of the 1930s. RHYTHM DE LUXE is his own interpretation of the exciting and romantic sound of the great dance bands. Formed as Steve Ross' de Luxe Orchestra in 1998 with a stand of talented New York players–many new to this music–Lindemeyer's orchestra achieves a fresh immediacy that goes beyond the nostalgic or archival. Whether dancing or listening are desired, here is a big band that plays the authentic orchestrations of "then" with an earnestness and enthusiasm that is decidedly "now."

STEVE ROSS
What better guest to have at a 1930s dance party than the man who has done so much to channel the spirits of Porter and Astaire into the present day? Although his voice and piano are known to the four corners of the globe, RHYTHM DE LUXE is Steve Ross' only recorded work with a big band. After a memorable live dance date with the orchestra "under the stars" at New York's Midsummer Night Swing festival, Steve was keen to continue. And he is as clearly at home with the large ensemble as he is in solo and cabaret. Steve and Paul also debut herein the RHYTHMOPOLITANS, a small group that blends the typical intimate Ross style into a classic jazz idiom.
