Sounds of Silence (The Music of Simon and Garfunkel)

When Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman, the critically acclaimed duo Aztec Two-Step, burst on the scene in 1972 with their Elektra Records debut, they were reviewed as having the “intellectual lyricism” and “ethereal harmonies” of their legendary predecessors, Simon & Garfunkel.

Renowned for bringing the folk/rock music of the 1960s into the '70s and beyond, Aztec Two-Step continues to be one of acoustic music's most respected and enduring acts. While the duo possess a rich musical legacy of their own, it only makes sense that they would choose to interpret and perform the timeless songs and harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel.

Quotes

Aztec Two-Step and Pete Fornatale riveted the Huntington Summer Arts Festival audience of 4,500 plus with their Simon & Garfunkel Songbook show. The combination of great musicianship and harmonies by Rex and Neal, plus Pete’s wonderful narration and storytelling, made this concert one of the absolute highlights of our 2008 summer season.
Diana Cherryholmes, Executive Director, Huntington Arts Council, Huntington, NY

Start with a spicy mix of Rex and Neal’s original harmony to complement the classic S&G vocal arrangements, add an entirely new dimension with Neal’s dazzling acoustic guitar/work, and wrap it up with their genuine love for those great songs and the memories they invoke. Much more than a night of nostalgia, Aztec Two-Step invite you into their living room for a personal retrospective on the music that influenced them - and an entire generation. A big winner and not just because they sold our place out. David Lavalley, Director, Center for Arts in Natick, MA

“…the right sound at the right time… beautiful acoustic guitar playing and questioning, challenging lyrics…songs performed with forceful vocals and near perfect instrumental harmonies.” – Variety

“Rex and Neal are possibly the best acoustic duo in the world today.” – Acoustic Live!

It was a great night of music and nostalgia, with outstanding performances by Rex and Neal and insightful entertaining musings by Pete Fornatale. Wonderful, wonderful!! The audience just loved every minute of the concert. Barbara Lavery, Director, The Bendheim Performing Arts Center, Scarsdale, NY
