'Brel & Piaf' is a tribute to Micheline's inspiring countryman Jacques Brel and the fabulous French sparrow Edith Piaf.
Ever since I was a young girl, I was swept away by the passionate songs of Belgian troubadour Jacques Brel. He sung about love and loss in Ne me quitte pas, about the drunken sailors in Amsterdam, about the a first love in Marieke. I was so swept away. Also the sparrow from Paris, Edith Piaf had an inspiring effect on me. She sings from the heart with no strings attached.
In this tribute, the songs of these two icons will blossom once more, in exciting English translations and original French and Dutch chansons.
Featuring Micheline Van Hautem (vocals) and Guus Westdorp (piano).

Micheline Van Hautem is in a different league. She is, simply, fabulous.
The Times, London, August 24, 2004
New York-based Van Hautem is, like Brel, a Belgian and a must.
The Sydney Morning Herald, October 2004
Van Hautem is tremendously powerful. Her voice, full of deft inflection, had me weeping. It’s a gorgeous show.
